Description

So I'm playing League of Angels (S39) and my character's name is Rivan, she's a Paladin and I kinda wanted to do some fan art based on that.  And no this is not what the character actually looks like in game.  Just figured if she was "custom" then she'd look something like this lol.  Total apx 10-12 hours including line art and such.  Totally drawn from scratch!!

My digital painting is improving in my opinion!!

I think the horns, hair, and eyes look really spot on. However, the flag--when adding shadow to fabric it really helps to have a sharper shadow versus softer shadows. I find that it looks a little "gooey", for lack of better word, when the shadows are soft. Also the shadows on her right cheek make it look as if its swollen, and typically ears are pinned back a little farther that her right ear is.
I think the face is probably the strongest part of this piece. Considering you had great improvement with your portraits from doing those quick studies, I think it would help as well if you did figure studies in the same way. Things like the fabric and figure reveal you're not as familiar with how to paint them. While it appears like you have a really great understanding of some things and paint them lovely realism (like the horns and the button on her cloak). I think if you work on that you'll have even better works. You've a good foundation right now. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t…" width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="262" title="Thumbs Up"/>
