Mischief by missimoinsane Mischief by missimoinsane
This art was traditionally drawn from scratch, scanned and then digitally painted. I am seriously impressed with how this turned out. Possibly the best digital painting I have done to date.

The picture is based upon *Miss-MischiefX who is so pretty you simply have to go see her wonderful modeling picture (note they are note stock).

Date: 1st - 10th October 2011.
Time: About 25 hours.
Program: Photoshop 7.
Brush Set(s): Standard PS7 Brush Sets
Tools: Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch (tablet).
Information: Completly drawn from scratch - doodles of my own and such.

This piece was very much again another testing piece and I really loved the finished result especially the piercings <3

*Miss-MischiefX reserves the right to ask me to remove this deviation and/or use at her own wish. I however reserve the right that no sales are to be made of my art (this art piece) or for anyone else to use or retransmit this work in any such way.

I was simply blown away by the quality of this art, its one of the best I have seen. The colors are vivid in the lips and the piercings look impressive. I enjoy the detail you added into the eye. I gave it a 4 on originality because, yes it is beautiful but I have seen a lot of girl paintings in this type of pose, but this is by far better then all those because you can tell that time was taken rather than rushed. I also enjoy the shading, its smooth which I find pleasant to look at. :) I enjoy this work ^^ nice job.

Coolness! I actually really love the style of the makeup and stuff - makes for really interesting art. Especially the vivid colours. Excellent job with the piercings and the eye. Perhaps next time some more detail? That way it may not look too smooth - like a texture on the skin for pores or something and wrinkling at the eyelid for expression.

Thank you very much for everything you have said. How would you like more detail? I honestly thought this was the most detailed piece I've done thus far. The skin is the most textured I've done and I've done everything I can. So please explain to me just what is it that people want from me?

Hmm I think it's best to explain with an example.
This links to a wikipedia picture of Raphael's portrait of Bindo Altoviti [link] What I'm trying to show with this is that when you get really into portrait painting, like these old Masters, there is detail as in eyelashes and stuff (which you have done an AMAZING job with) but it is built upon with things like light hitting the skin, how the skin folds of the body on the cheek and is pinched in like near the mouth and eyes. How it shows the painted person's expression with the wrinkles near the mouth and the arch of the eye.

I don't think I'm explaining myself very well!!! Sorry!!!! I do like your work but I think what I am trying to say is don't be afraid of being dirty!!
Also, it can be very hard to work off a photograph for a lot of these things. To get the emotion you need to talk to the person, and to understand the light its best to walk around the subject. Otherwise it can look flat. A lot of paintings of people have weird dimensions going on, which really separates them from photographs and is I think why we still like looking at them, because they can capture more.

Does that answer your question? :/

I am making improvements slowely I have only been using a tablet a little over a month so that is still very new too me and I was trying to work on one thing at a time. My main issues which I am trying to learn to do is hair. Then followed by lighting and shadow etc. I will work more on this and textures and such as time goes on. I find it very difficult to work on large scales due to photoshop constantly (Not Responding) - this is driving me loopy. So I am working on smaller canvases which cause me problems when trying to do things like tiny detail. Also it seems when I work with smaller brushes things seem to be getting very pixelated and looks crap. I am honestly trying and I know it will take a long time before I get to meet the standards of some of these really amazing artists. ~ElectronicRainbow influenced me to want to do digital paintings and I feel I am getting there. I wanted to try and find my own flow and my own twist to things rather than just creating works like hers, I want to be a little more of my own style. I am learning still. It takes time.

Ohh I see what you're going after now - you really are getting there!

With photoshop you're just getting lag. Do you work with a desktop or a laptop? You actually need a pretty powerful computer to run really large photoshop files, and no laptop is powerful enough. you need like 2.8+ or something. I tend to only use photoshop at the end now for tweaking, because it's annoying (I use an old laptop) and just use other simpler painting programs for lines and shading.

Sorry for the late reply I've been very creative and inspired lately. - Not really a good enough excuse but there it is.

Resonce:

My art work I think I am going for realism while still being cartoon. But not overly cartoon _ more perhaps like graphic novel but with more detailed art.

I work on a laptop. I am very cross because I only got it about 6months ago and I have made a point of keeping all stuff which isn't programs onto my external harddrive (videos, art, documents, pics etc...) and it's got loads of memory but for some reason for the past 3 months I keep getting (Not Responding) mostly on Photoshop 7, sometimes on other programs such as MoziallaFireFox, Media Player, Microsoft Word, MSN etc...

My really old laptop run Photoshop 7 no problem and that was XP. Then my boyfriends laptop which was Vista came up with (Not Responding) sometimes but now I am on Windows 7 and I get it all the time. Rarr. I deal with it though and I  my photoshop 7.
