Description

So I wanted to work on something new and try and improve my skills so this has taken goodness knows how many hours but it's my first official piece of 2012.

Created in CS5 with Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch using just standard CS5 brush sets and a bit of imagination.

I am rather pleased, let me know your thoughts.

There are a lot of little mermaids kind of drawings here on DA but I have to say that it's the first time that I see a mermaid warrior ;O I really like this idea and the concept. It really stood out since mermaids are usually known only for their beauty and you just showed another side of them So first, the character, I think there could be more contrast between the light and the shadows and just to show the under-water effect even more, you could have made the shadows a bit in a dark-blue tone. The hair are really nice C: But maybe just a bit blurry at the end, it could be better if you've made some lock of hair longer than others instead of a strait line.
I especially really like the tail, beautiful sparkling effect
The background is pretty amazing as well ^^ The effect on the chains and the octopus are so well done.
Looking at this drawing it's like watching a frozen image of an important scene. It really made me want to watch the ending of the battle
Again, there are some places for improvement but overall, really nice work
